Today's word is prepare.
" 'See I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire will come, days the LORD Almighty.' " ~ Malachi 3:1
" 'See I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire will come, days the LORD Almighty.' " ~ Malachi 3:1
We learn in the Gospels that this messenger spoken of by the prophets Malachi and Isaiah (Isaiah 40:3) and sent by God to prepare the way for the LORD Jesus Christ was John the Baptist (read Mark 1:1-8). John the Baptist had the role of preparing the hearts of the people in his region for the coming of the Messiah.
Our role in observing the Advent season is to prepare the way for Him as well ~ in our own hearts, in the heart of our homes, and in the lives of the people we encounter every day. The Lord you are seeking will come...
Joy to the world the Lord is come,
Let earth receive her King,
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing.
(From Psalm 98) Issac Watts
