Advent Day 4: Eternal

Advent Words Day 4: Eternal

"He was with God in the beginning." John 1:2

In the beginning the Word was already in existence. The Word is eternal. He has always been and always will be. He has always existed. Yet one more way that John points to Jesus' divinity.
"When creation came into existence, Jesus was already there." ~ Bruce Hurt, Precept Austin
"Before time began, Jesus was." ~John Piper
Jesus himself says later in the Gospel of John,
And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began." John 17:5

And again,
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world." John 17:24

The writer of Hebrews says,
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Jesus is eternal.

He shall reign
Forevermore, forevermore
And He shall reign
Forevermore, forevermore
Unto us a child is born
The King of kings and Lord of lords
And He shall reign
Forevermore, forevermore.
~Chris Tomlin, He Shall Reign Forevermore
