Advent Day 5: Creator

Advent Words Day 5: Creator

"Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." John 1:3

The Word is the Creator of the universe. That Jesus, the Word, is also Creator is one more way that John shows us Jesus' divine nature, His deity. The NASB states this verse like this: "All things came into being through Him...".

We see this elsewhere in the New Testament:

"For us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." 1 Corinthians 8:6

"The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Colossians 1:15-17

"In these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe." Hebrews 1:2

"He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth and the heavens are the work of your hands." Hebrews 1:10

"Creator of the Stars of Night" is an ancient Advent hymn, remade by High Street Hymns. It contains a verse that highlights Jesus as Creator.
Creator of the stars of night

Thy people’s everlasting light

O Christ, Redeemer of us all
We pray you hear us when we call

The Word was with God; He is God; He is Creator. The Word made life and is life. The Word made light and is light. Creation is His work of art.
