Advent Words Day 5 ~ Wait

Day 5:Wait

"And it will be said in that day,

“Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.

This is the Lord for whom we have waited;

Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”

Isaiah 25:9

Advent is a season that invites us to embrace waiting. It invites us to join the saints that came before us as they longed for the coming of the Messiah; to become comfortable with the expectation, anticipation and hope of waiting for the Lord to appear. Waiting prepares us by deepening our faith and trust in God as we hold onto His promises.

In the Advent season we look back and remember those who waited for the Messiah to come. We learn from them how to prepare, how to properly long and anticipate with faith, and how to hold onto hope in the Lord. We look back in celebration that Christ came to save us, and we use the example of those who waited for the Messiah to come the first time, to prepare us in our waiting for when Christ will come again in glory to consummate His eternal kingdom.

"All of Advent reminds us that God is making us ready. The waiting, the hoping - it all points us to the miracle unfolding, the grace of God comes into our barrenness and fills the space with Himself." ~Kris Camealy, Come, Lord Jesus

"I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,

and in his word I put my hope.

I wait for the Lord

more than watchmen wait for the morning,

more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord,

for with the Lord is unfailing love

and with him is full redemption.

He himself will redeem Israel

from all their sins."

Psalm 130:5-8
